- Kit will work on any Can Am Maverick X3 2018-22 120HP, 2017 154HP, 2018-21 172HP, or 2020-21 195HP models with the 6 arm primary clutch (Does NOT fit P-Drive models, but would replace your P-Drive if you wish)
- Kits are build to order with a 3-5 day lead time
- This S4 kit is a complete clutch set up for your X3 and includes: AA primary clutch with metal rollers (OEM are plastic), 6 AA Recoil magnetic adjustable hardened clutch weights (OEM weights are soft which is why they use a plastic roller), AA primary spring, AA replacement primary bolt, OEM secondary clutch sheaves, AA adjustable helix, AA HD rollers, helix adjustment tool & setup guideline. We will highlight the weight and helix setup that we used on your setup guide.
- Primary and secondary clutch will come assembled if you let us know your tire size and modifications. Not every vehicle is the same, so even if having us professionally set the clutch up, some adjustment may be needed. Always make sure to check peak RPM after installation.
- From trail rigs to high horsepower setups, this is the clutch setup we run on our shop vehicles. In dyno and field testing, we found the 6 arm clutch is much more efficient in power transfer over a 3 arm/P-Drive clutch.
- For 120HP or 154HP base models, this primary clutch is an upgrade as it has metal sliders which help longevity and have less drag. These sliders came on 172HP and 195HP models.
- HD primary clutch uses hardened rollers and our hardened weights for better clutch longevity, and better operation. This is an upgrade from the OEM design that uses plastic hex "rollers" and soft metal weights.
- Our X3 S4 clutch kits pack a huge punch! No matter the terrain, they hit hard and just keep pulling for days. On the trail or at the race you'll notice wicked acceleration and instant clutch response when getting back into the throttle after hammering that corner. In the dunes you'll see the same benefits, but also have much less bogging when climbing that big dune. The machine will hold RPM so you can get where you need to go, and get there faster! Going mudding? Our mud setup will help turn those tires through the thick and deep with much better RPM and wheel speed that's key to climbing out of that hole. Are you a rock crawler? Our smooth engagement and precise feel down low will give you the confidence to tackle any obstacle. We have a huge amount of CVT knowledge, a great passion for the sport, and spent many hours testing different setups in the real world. - With our clutches you'll notice better power transfer (better acceleration) and lower belt temps than your OEM clutch or other aftermarket clutches.
- Big performance gains as these 3 cylinder motors love to rev! The factory clutches these heavy, making them ramp up RPM slowly. Once you ride a properly clutched X3 that ramps up RPM quickly, you'll see the major difference. This comes into play if you are running heavier tires, riding dunes, or tune your X3. Allowing RPM to ramp up quickly is a massive difference and if your tunes are built like ours, they love to rev higher and that makes them accelerate much faster.
- Our custom cut fully adjustable helix in this kit is a game changer! We have been using this quick click secondary design on many other vehicles since 2008, and have now adapted to the X3 platform. This helix angle is much better for acceleration as it allows RPM to ramp up quicker out of the gate, then load the motor hard up top for wicked acceleration. The best part about this helix is the ability to adjust your spring tension. This easily allows you to dial in RPM with the secondary clutch which is much easier than adjusting the X3 primary. - Choose between two helix styles:
- Performance Helix 1053: An aggressive helix with acceleration/higher horsepower/aggressive fast pace drivers in mind. Best for 190+ crank horsepower and up to 32" tires for 2 seat models. Best for 205+ crank horsepower 4 seat models up to 30" tires.
- High Load Helix 1050: A slightly less aggressive angle than the 1053 helix with good acceleration gains/power transfer over the OEM helix. Designed for a heavier vehicle (4 seat), heavy tires, heavy sand load or crawling type riding in mind or for those running stock horsepower levels. Works excellent for for 120-230+ crank horsepower 2 seat models and 120-260+ crank horsepower 4 seat models.
- Helix Choice: Keep in mind the helix is controlling how fast the secondary clutch shifts. A lighter, more powerful vehicle can shift faster with the Performance Helix without slowing down/bogging the engine. A heavier vehicle/heavier tire setup benefits from the High Load helix as it slows the shift down vs. the performance helix, so RPM can ramp up faster. Neither helix is faster for everyone, but the right helix choice will make your vehicle perform the best. The shift rate is somewhat adjustable by the secondary spring adjustment, but you still want to choose a helix that is right for your setup. Feel free to message us if you have questions on this.
- Our setup guideline will let you know how to set your weights for stock horsepower to 220 RWHP, 28" - 35" tires, 28-32" paddle tires, different altitudes & more. If running higher HP, let us know.
- Primary weights are adjustable from 50 to 64 grams. Weights have more tip weight and act heavier. This means they also accelerate and up shift much harder.
- Cooler running belt temps from a more efficient power transfer which results in longer belt and clutch life. With this kit and our Stryker belts (GBoost belt) we have ran thousands of hard miles in the dunes & trails at higher horsepower with ZERO belt failures.
- Big acceleration gains and better power transfer to the rear wheels over replacing with OEM clutches
- Close to stock engagement which is very smooth (Higher engagement options available if needed for Launch Control)
- Our Recoil clutch weights are easily adjustable with simple magnets. They have a custom AA profile, the BEST coating on the market (nitrocarburizing) which has increased wear resistance, improved fatigue strength, and added surface lubricity. These clutch weights also offer great performance, and the ability to tune for many different applications or modification in the future, without the need to buy extra parts. The magnetic weights are the best option to properly place the mass where we need it on the weight for best performance for your application.
- Primary Clutch Puller: This is needed to remove your OEM primary clutch. If you/your shop does not have this tool, you'll need to purchase it.

Local pickup
We currently offer free pickup from our location. You will be notified via email or phone when your item(s) are ready for pickup.
Returns
We will accept returns within 30 days of original purchase and provide a store credit ONLY, no cash or credit card refunds will be given. All returns are subject to a 20% restocking fee. The product must still be in the original clean packaging, unused and uninstalled. We do not refund shipping and handling charges and the customer is responsible for all return shipping charges. There will be an additional rebox fee charged if the packaging needs to be replaced so please double box your returns. There is no returns of special order, tuners or custom parts.
Cancellations
Custom parts may not be canceled once your order is placed. Cancelled Orders may be subject to a 15% cancellation fee. All returns must be pre-authorized with a Battle Born Offroad Employee and have an RGA # or they will be returned to you. Refunds will be processed within 48hrs once product is received and in original condition. Most refunds are issued to the original payment method, or by check. Please allow up to 7 business days for store credit to reflect.
Website errors
In the event a product is listed at an incorrect price due to typographical, photographic, or technical error or error in pricing information received from our suppliers, Battle Born Offroad Ltd shall have the right to refuse or cancel any orders placed for product listed at the incorrect price.
Payment processing
By clicking checkout, you agree to have your payment ran anytime after checkout. Some orders may not be charged right away, and you authorize Battle Born Offroad to charge your card up to 365 days after completing your purchase for the maximum amount you paid.

What is your shipping policy and how long will my order take?
We offer free or discounted shipping on most orders over $99. Orders typically ship within 1-3 business days; once shipped, standard transit times depend on your location, but generally most transit time is 2-3 days. Expedited shipping is available at checkout, and offers delivery as quick as 24hrs. Tracking info will be provided once your package is in transit and will be sent electronically to your email.
Do you offer installation services or do you only sell parts?
Yes, Battle Born Offroad offers professional installation in our Las Vegas shop for ALL products we sell (suspension, lift kits, lighting, etc.). What warranty do your products come with?
All of our products come with a manufacturer’s warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. Warranty durations vary by product and brand. Damage from misuse, improper installation, or off-trail abuse may not be covered. To initiate a claim or have questions, please reach out to us via email at info@battlebornoffroad.net and please submit photos, your order number and a brief description of the issue you are facing.
Do you offer financing or payment plans?
Yes, we partner with financing providers (Affirm, Shop Pay, SNAP Finance & Koalifi) so you can pay over time. Options like “buy now pay later” or longer-term payment plans may be available. Terms and interest will depend on your credit. Affirm and Shop Pay will be shown during checkout and must be clicked during this process. How do you handle damages or defects in shipping?
Please inspect your package immediately upon arrival. If you notice any shipping damage, take clear photos of the damage and packaging and email us within 24 hours of delivery. We will work to make it right, either replacement of the part, or arranging return/reimbursement as needed.
